The doctrine of the Trinity states that in the one essence of the Godhead there eternally coexists three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, of equal power and glory, and they are equally worshipped by Christians throughout all ages.

Is there any analogy in the physical world of the doctrine of the Trinity? In his book The Secret of the Universe, Dr. Nathan Wood points out that if God is a trinitarian being who is the Creator of the world, then we should expect that He would leave trinitarian fingerprints upon His creation. The amazing thing is that we live in this trinitarian universe and generally never see the fingerprints at all. So we are left to find little tiny supposed illustrations, like water, ice, and gas—or maybe an egg with its yolk, its white, and its shell—none of which is an illustration of the Trinity.

But there are analogies in the natural world. In fact, we live in a trinitarian universe. Ask a scientist what the universe is composed of, and he will tell you that it is made up of space, time and matter; these three and  no more. No universe exists which does not have all three.  Furthermore, we see that each of these is, in its turn, trinitarian. Space is always comprised of height, length, and width. We imagine a two-dimensional figure in our minds, but it is impossible to produce it in the physical universe. Even a line on a piece of paper has three  dimensions.

Or consider the matter of time. Time always exists of past, present and future; these three and no more. Furthermore, we might note that from our perspective, time can be all past. Someday when we come to the end of time we will look back and it will all be past. At the beginning of time it was all future. We may take the existentialist’s position from the present moment and say that all time is present; there is no tomorrow, only today. And so we see that time is also triune.

The same is true of matter. According to the scientific definition, matter consists of energy in motion producing phenomena, and always these three.

So instead of looking for some isolated little illustration somewhere to describe the Trinity, we find that the entire framework of the universe in which we live is Trinitarian. It bears the unmistakable fingerprints of the Triune God.

Our Wondrous Creator

The final, climactic reference to the gospel is found in the Book of Revelation where we read of an “angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth--to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people--saying with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.’” (Revelation 14:6-7).

First, we notice that the gospel is loud and clear for every person on the earth. Second, this is the everlasting gospel so it can be no different from the gospel preached throughout the Bible. This everlasting gospel is simply that we should fear (reverence) God and worship our awesome Creator. How can this be the gospel? Scripture presents the answer: When a person responds to the light of creation – acknowledging that he is accountable to his Creator, and when a person responds to the light of conscience by fearing God and admitting he has violated God’s moral law written on every heart, then the Lord will faithfully lead him to salvation.

The foundational truths of the gospel are special creation and conscience. Repeatedly the Bible explains that all know that there is a powerful and wise Creator to whom we are accountable (Romans 1:20); and that the Creator has placed within us a conscience which reveals right and wrong (Romans 2:15) – thus showing our need for forgiveness and redemption. (See also: Genesis 1-3; Job 12:7-10; Job 38:36; Psalm 19; Psalm 40:8; Psalm 97:6; Proverbs 1:20-33; John 8:9; Romans 1-2; Romans 10:18; Colossians 1:6, 23; etc.)

Of course only Jesus Christ’s redeeming work on the cross saves. However, the psalmist explains that “The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Psalm 25:14). And Scripture also explains that, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil” (Proverbs 8:13). “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). “The fear of the Lord leads to life” (Proverbs 19:20). Consequently, when a person truly fears his Creator and turns at His rebuke, God will guide him to His everlasting covenant in Christ’s blood.

God of Wonders was produced to exalt our great Creator by declaring His power, wisdom and care shown throughout creation, His justice and holiness revealed in mankind’s inner voice of conscience, and His mercy and love demonstrated on the cross.

In these final days may we “Declare His glory…His wonders among all peoples” (Psalm 96:3), and may many souls repent and surrender to Jesus Christ unto eternal salvation!

Question: "What does the Bible say about magic, magicians, illusionists?"

Answer: There is a difference between the magicians spoken of in the Bible and the magicians and illusionists one sees today at parties and in stage show acts. The magicians in the Bible either gained their power from demonic forces or else they were little more than charlatans who pretended to have great knowledge or to discover secrets, tell fortunes, and predict things to come.

The word "magic" is actually used six times in the Bible, three times in the Old Testament and three times in the New Testament. However, the word, "magician(s)" is used 15 times. We know that the Egyptians worshipped many gods and that magic played an important part in the rituals of their high priests. It was through the deception of magic that the Egyptians were made to believe their gods actually had power. Genesis speaks of magicians in pharaoh's service. But it is interesting to note that they were powerless to interpret pharaoh’s dream (Genesis 41:8), prompting pharaoh to send for Joseph, who interpreted it correctly because he spoke the words God gave him.

The book of Exodus speaks of magicians practicing what is called "secret arts" (Exodus 8:7), as they brought up frogs and thereby replicating God's plague on the land of Egypt. Magic in this case was used in an attempt to mock God by mimicking the miracles God performed through Moses. Magic and sorcery played a major role in the pantheistic religion of Egypt. Its ancient documents record the magicians’ activities, one of the most prominent being the charming of serpents. These men were also self-styled “wise men” and “sorcerers”—the learned men of the day and the religious as well. Two of these men, named Jannes and Jambres, are mentioned in 2 Timothy 3:8. Any supernatural power they may have had came from Satan (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). If not supernaturally inspired, they simply practiced their trade by optical illusion, sleight of hand, or the learned physical manipulation of things such as snakes. Whatever the case, deceit was their aim, and they were sufficiently skillful to completely fool pharaoh and his servants.

In regard to the magicians and illusionists we see today, if they are nothing more than entertainers, there is probably nothing wrong with being entertained by them. If, however, they are involved with the occult, clearly this is something Christians must avoid. The difficulty is in knowing which are associated with the occult and which are not. Pope Francis: Church Would Baptize Aliens

In a quirky morning Mass, the pope used a far-out example of little green Martians seeking Jesus to preach about the church’s inclusiveness.

Is Pope Francis willing to go to extremes to fill the pews? Apparently so, if his latest outreach message is an indication.

Speaking on Monday during the homily at his daily morning Mass at the Casa Santa Marta inside Vatican City where he lives, he told his mostly clerical audience that they should keep an open mind to anyone—or anything—seeking God. “If—for example—tomorrow an expedition of Martians came, and some of them came to us, here... Martians, right? Green, with that long nose and big ears, just like children paint them... And one says, ‘But I want to be baptized!’ What would happen?” he asked parishioners. “When the Lord shows us the way, who are we to say, ‘No, Lord, it is not prudent! No, let’s do it this way...’”

One assumes the pope doesn’t actually think an alien ship filled with little green men hoping to convert to Catholicism will land in St. Peter’s Square any time soon, and Vatican Radio quickly interpreted the message as one about “inclusion” lest anyone start worrying about the Holy Father’s faculties. Apparently the Pope’s message about Martians meant, “Who are we to close the doors to the Holy Spirit?” according to an an article attributed to Vatican Radio on the Vatican’s main news website. “The Spirit blows where it wills, but one of the most common temptations of those who have faith is to bar its path and drive it in one direction or another.”

Catholic News Service also quickly defended and interpreted the quirky remarks, saying Francis was trying to make the point that the Church is often overly judgmental when it comes to acceptance and that “if the Holy Spirit prompted the most unusual being to see, baptism, who would we be to hinder that person?”

Francis is not the first Vatican insider to toy with the idea of alien life. In 2008, Father Jose Gabriel Funes, director of the Vatican Observatory, told L’Osservatore Romano that “believing in the possible existence of extraterrestrial life is not opposed to Catholic doctrine” in an article entitled “The Alien is my Brother.” He said that since astronomers—even Catholic ones—believe that the universe is made up of 100 billion galaxies, so it is not reasonable to discount that some could have planets. “How could it not be left out that life developed elsewhere?” he pondered in the article. “As a multiplicity of creatures exist on earth, so there could be other beings, also intelligent, created by God. This does not contrast with our faith because we cannot put limits on the creative freedom of God. [According to] Saint Francis, if we consider earthly creatures as ‘brother’ and ‘sister,’ why cannot we also speak of an ‘extraterrestrial brother’? It would therefore be a part of creation.”

Funes’ views were backed up in 2010, when fellow Vatican Observatory astronomer and Jesuit Brother Guy Consolmagno penned the book Intelligent Life in the Universe? Catholic Belief and the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligent Life. In it, he posed a number of questions, including whether aliens exist, and if they do and have souls, could they be baptized?

The answer, apparently, is yes. “The limitless universe might even include other planets with other beings created by that same loving God,” he wrote in the book. “The idea of there being other races and other intelligences is not contrary to traditional Christian thought. There is nothing in Holy Scripture that could confirm or contradict the possibility of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.”

Today there are entire Sci-fi TV networks and movies devoted to the ongoing UFO mind control.

Another part of this ET hoax was NASA's moon mission. NASA's big bangers claim they could easily put man on the moon thus life in space is possible. (see: Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?) Conditions in space are very harsh; is life in space possible at all?

Guess we will find out soon, the Jesuits have an observatory (LUCIFER) searching for planets. We can trust Lucifer? NASA founded S.E.T.I. has been looking for ET since the 1960s. So far - nothing.

There are various schools of thought when it comes to what the Bible has to say about the end times & subjects pertaining to it such as the nation of Israel. The common position held by many Christians today is the theory of Premillennial Dispensationalism (first created by a Plymouth Brethren Anglo-Irish evangelist named John Darby & introduced to the world at the Powerscourt Conference in 1831) which was made famous by the Scofield Reference Bible & Hal Lindsay's "The Late Great Planet Earth." Is Darby's 1831 theory air tight Biblically speaking or can Scriptural questions be raised that could call Darby's suppositions into question? 

Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle and contemporary of Darby published criticism of Darby and Brethrenism. His main criticism was that Darby and the Plymouth Brethren rejected the vicarious purpose of Christ's obedience as well as imputed righteousness.

Darby dispensationalists claim that their principle of hermeneutics is that of literal interpretation, which means giving each word the meaning it would commonly have in everyday usage. Symbols, figures of speech and types are all interpreted plainly in this method, and this is in no way contrary to literal interpretation. Even symbols and figurative sayings have literal meanings behind them.

Dispensational theology teaches that there are two distinct peoples of God: Israel and the church. Dispensationalists believe that salvation has always been by faith—in God in the Old Testament and specifically in God the Son in the New Testament. Dispensationalists hold that the church has not replaced Israel in God's program and the Old Testament promises to Israel have not been transferred to the church. They believe that the promises God made to Israel (for land, many descendants, and blessings) in the Old Testament will be ultimately fulfilled in the 1000-year period spoken of in Revelation chapter 20. Dispensationalists believe that just as God is in this age focusing His attention on the church, He will again in the future focus His attention on Israel (Romans 9-11).

Dispensationalism, as a system, results in a premillennial interpretation of Christ's second coming and usually a pretribulational interpretation of the rapture. To summarize, dispensationalism is a theological system that emphasizes the literal interpretation of Bible prophecy, recognizes a clear distinction between Israel and the church, and organizes the Bible into the different dispensations it presents.

Dual covenant theology, which runs counter to mainstream Christian evangelism, maintains that Jewish people have a special relationship to God through the revelation at Sinai and therefore they do not need "to go through Christ or the Cross" to get to heaven. TV preacher John Hagee of San Antonio, Texas has been accused of teaching dual covenant theology but he denies it & rather follows a dispensational interpretation of the Bible view on Jews & Israel. Book Review - "Counterfeit Gods" by Tim Keller

Tim Keller knows how to tell a Bible story. Like The Prodigal God before it, his latest book, Counterfeit Gods is built around them. And every time I read one of those stories, I feel like I am hearing it for the first time. I find myself lost in the story, anticipating how it could, how it might, end. In the back of my mind I know exactly how it will turn out, but somehow Keller takes me along for a ride as he tells these stories in such a fresh way. In Counterfeit Gods he tells of Abraham and Isaac, Jacob and Esau, Jonah and Zacchaeus. Each one of these characters and the stories of their lives are used to teach the reader about the prevalence of idolatry in the Bible and in the human heart.

“The human heart takes good things like a successful career, love, material possessions, even family, and turns them into ultimate things. Our hearts deify them as the center of our lives, because, we think, they can give us significance and security, safety and fulfillment, if we attain them.” Thus anything can be an idol and, really, everything has been an idol to one person or another. The great deception of idols is we are prone to think that idols are only bad things. But evil is far more subtle than this. “We think that idols are bad things, but that is almost never the case. The greater the good, the more likely we are to expect that it can satisfy our deepest needs and hopes. Anything can serve as a counterfeit god, especially the very best things in life.”

What then is an idol? “It is anything more important to you than God, anything that absorbs your heart and imagination more than God, anything you seek to give you what only God can give.” If anything in all the world is more fundamental than God to your happiness, to your meaning in life, then that thing has become an idol. It has supplanted God in your heart and in your affections. You will pursue that thing with an abandon and intensity that should be reserved for God alone.

Having introduced idolatry and its effects in the Introduction and first chapter, Keller uses chapters two through five to discuss idols that have a particularly strong grasp on people today, though perhaps they are idols that have always drawn the hearts of men. He discusses love (and sex), money, success and power (focusing particularly on political power). Having discussed such personal idols, he spends a chapter looking at some cultural and societal idols—ones that tend to be hidden from us because they are so prevalent, so normal. Finally, he looks to “The End of Counterfeit Gods” and here he offers hope for the idolatrous. “Is there any hope? Yes, if we begin to realize that idols cannot simply be removed. They must be replaced. If you try to uproot them, they grow back; but they can be supplanted. By what? By God himself, of course. … What we need is a living encounter with God.” He wraps things up in an Epilogue where he offers words that so helpfully answer the “now what?” questions. The trouble with exposing idols is that we realize that most of our idols really are good things that we’ve allowed to take on undue importance. We do not want to cast away these good things! “If we have made idols of work and family, we do not want to stop loving our work and family. Rather, we want to love Christ so much more that we are not enslaved by our attachments.” The solution is not to love good things less, but to love the best thing more!

As always, Keller is eminently quotable and is a very skilled writer. The book is excellent not only in its big picture, but also in its component parts. More importantly, it turns always to the gospel. It never leaves the reader in despair but instead points him away from his idols and toward the idol-breaker, toward the one who demands and deserves the first place in our hearts. “The way forward, out of despair, is to discern the idols of our hearts and our culture. But that will not be enough. The only way to free ourselves from the destructive influence of counterfeit gods is to turn back to the true one. The living God, who revealed himself both at Mount Sinai and on the Cross, is the only Lord who, if you find him, can truly fulfill you, and, if you fail him, can truly forgive you.”

Truly, the human heart is an idol factory. Counterfeit Gods points to Scripture to help root them out, turns to the Cross to find forgiveness and points to the gospel as the power to find ultimate freedom from them. This is an excellent book and one I hope to read again, perhaps in a group setting. It is easily one of the best books I’ve read this year and I commend it to you.
